Altec Lansing inMotion Slim
$100.00
Released January, 2009
The Pros:Super-thin, foldable design takes up little room on a nightstand, is travel friendly. Decent sound quality for the price--surprising bass performance, competent highs. Outputs enough volume for a small room without it being overkill.
The Cons:May be a bit too quiet for some tastes. Not fully compatible with the latest generation of Nanos--doesn't charge while one is docked.

It is even foldable, making it easy to carry in a briefcase, backpack, or even in one’s hands. Keep in mind, however, that the unit only runs for 10 hours, assuming a batch of 6 fresh AAA batteries. While at a singloe location, it is recommend that the user power the device by a conventional AC cord. While in operation, the iM500 employs two custom, full-range drivers with built-in bass-enhancement technology; these ensure high-quality audio, no matter the location. Note also the system’s auxiliary input, which can be used to connect a laptop or CD/DVD player.
